  Software Asset Management
Are you aware of the software that is installed on your companies workstations, laptops and ‘home office’ computers ?

Do you have a record of software, serial numbers, users and licences ?

Computer Aided Business Systems Ltd can assist you with these answers with a Software Asset Management review. At your invitation our technical staff will attend your offices and sub-offices to fully audit your software installations and compare this with software licences that you hold or have registered. Alternatively our technical team will direct you to resources which will help you conduct your own review.

The Software Asset Management review will identify any shortfalls in licencing and establish the efficiency of the licences (i.e. Are they being used to the greatest effect and by the right people).

It’s recommended that a Software Asset Management review is conducted every 12 months, and even more often when the company is in a state of rapid expansion or lacks a central IT team.
Please contact our technical department on 01707 258338 for further information.

  Autodesk Licence Compliance
Licence compliance for Autodesk products is important, and Computer Aided Business Systems Ltd will work with you to ensure that you have the correct licences and are using them efficiently and in accordance to the Autodesk licence agreements.

  Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install a copy of the Autodesk software on another computer either in the office or at home?
YES - however there are rules to abide by, and this depends if you have a current Autodesk Subscription contract.

Customers with a valid Autodesk Subscription contract are permitted to install a copy of their standalone or networked version of Autodesk software on their home computer. Providing that the software is to be used in conjunction with the licensees business, and that the office licence isnt being used at the same time.

Customers with or without a valid Autodesk Subscription can transfer the Autodesk software licence (licence transfer) within a pool of workstations. Transferring the licence from one workstation to another will always ensure that only the one licence can be used.
I've upgraded my licence can I use the old version?
YES - If you have a current Autodesk Subscription contract then previously owned versions of the Autodesk application can be installed and run on the SAME workstation as the current release. The software cannot be used on another workstation. If you do not have a current Autodesk Subscription contract then you are not entitled to run previous releases, and all previous releases must be removed from your workstation within 3 months of installation of the upgrade application.
I've just taken over the responsibility of looking after our companies Autodesk software, how do I find out what software we have?
Computer Aided Business Systems will work with you to request a report from Autodesk of all registered Autodesk products. Our technical team can also visit your site(s) and run an audit on the Autodesk software installed. If you have a history of purchasing your Autodesk software from Computer Aided Business Systems then we will have full records of software that we have supplied.
Can I purchase Autodesk software from the US?
Autodesk software purchased outside EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), will not be authorised by Autodesk for use in the UK. If you wish to use Autodesk software in the UK, then you are required to purchase Autodesk software in the UK. Which the Computer Aided Business Systems sales will be pleased to discuss with you.
  What is OEM software?
In certain circumstances Autodesk warrant the provision of OEM Autodesk software when it is provided as part of a solution by an Autodesk Authorised Developer. Autodesk do not sell OEM software in any other circumstances. The OEM versions supplied by the Developer will not be the same as the full product, with many features removed and quite often Lisp and VBA are disabled for any other third party development. Autodesk OEM software will only be upgradable via the Developer that has 'bundled' their product.
Should I purchase from ebay or other websites?
Computer Aided Business Systems recommend that you are cautious in purchasing Autodesk software on the internet. If the company is not a listed as an authorised supplier on the Autodesk website then they are not authorised to sell Autodesk products (see www.autodesk.co.uk resellers).

Computer Aided Business Systems and Autodesk advise not to purchase Autodesk products from ebay (and other online auction sites) as they are often illegal copies, imported copies and generally versions of Autodesk software that you will not get licenced by Autodesk.
Can I sell my Autodesk products?
More often than not, NO. Autodesk grant the purchasing company the rights to use the software. If the company no longer requires the software or the company goes into liquidation for example then Autodesk will terminate the licence number. If you contact our sales department, we will be able to look at your individual case.
Can I use my student version for commercial work?
NO - Student versions are intended for users to complete coursework and learn Autodesk products. At no time should student software be used for commercial use, even if it's being used to produce a library of parts or title sheets etc.

Software Asset Management
You work hard to build a strong and positive reputation for your company—don’t let it be tarnished due to poor software management. Software management is a critical responsibility that helps every organisation determine needed software resources and protects them against unauthorised software use. Weak software management strategies can leave you susceptible to software piracy, which in turn can lead to legal prosecution, large fines, and public embarrassment.
